In the beginning of 2025, a plot of 38 acres of wild primary and secondary forest within the Grand Forest complex on Bainbridge Island went up for sale to the highest bidder. With hard work and dedicated advocacy, Bainbridge Island Land Trust, in partnership with the Parks District and Parks & Trails Foundation, were able to raise enough money to purchase the forested land and permanently protect it for the community. It was a complete win for the island, allowing its flora and fauna to have a protected home and its trail system to be preserved and open to the public forever.
